Blockbuster To Expand At Retail, Sell Video Game Consoles
March 31, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - Apparently Blockbuster will no longer be a destination simply to rent the latest DVDs and video games, it may also be a place to shop for the entertainment. Blockbuster has announced they will begin to expand at retail, selling video game consoles and more.
The company has been in a battle over the years with many rivals, including the online-based rental service Netflix.
Blockbuster apparently does not see things as one-dimensional anymore, as they want to expand what they do at retail.
They stated that they will begin this process by selling video game consoles first.
Following this expansion, they are likely going to be moving outward to sell other entertainment products.
This could also potentially give Blockbuster the opportunity to go a bit into GameStop’s niche by selling used games and offering trade-ins, since they already have the structure set up for it with the rentals.
