Autism Risk Increases in Children with Older MothersBoston (DbTechNo) - When it comes to the risk of a child developing autism a lot depends on the age of his or her mother at the time of the birth. New research indicates that the older a mother is when she gives birth, the greater the chance of her child becoming autistic. On the flip side, being an older father at the time the baby is conceived does not pose the same risk when it comes to the risk of autism. There is currently not a cure for autism, a condition that is characterized by a child’s inability to develop social and communicative skills. “The older the mother, the more the risk that the child will develop autism, regardless of whether the father is young or old,” said Irva Hertz-Picciotto of the University of California Davis MIND Institute, who worked on the study. The study focused on 4.9 million births and 12,159 autism cases in California. Women over the age of 40 who gave birth had children with a 50% increased risk of developing autism than women between 20 and 25. The study is published in the journal Autism Research. Antidepressant Interfeers With Breast Cancer Drug tamoxifenBoston (DbTechNo) - The antidepressant drug paxil has been shown to interfeer with a leading breast cancer drug called tamoxifen. According to researchers from Canada, paxil should be avoided by women taking tamoxifen as the antidepressant interfeers with the Glaxo drug’s ability to fight breast cancers. Paxil apparently interfeers with the compound that the body uses to process tamoxifen thus reducing the effectiveness of the drug. Researchers analyzed health care records of 2,430 breast cancer patients taking tamoxifen, some of whom also took an antidepressant. Researchers noted that women taking both types of drugs were up to 25% more likely to die from breast cancer than those women not taking an antidepressant. “There is probably a better choice of antidepressants for women taking tamoxifen but (any change) should be done gradually with a doctor,” said Dr. David Juurlink of the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center in Toronto. Kendra Wilkinson Tweets About Super Bowl BreakdownBoston (DbTechNo) - Former Playboy bunny and wife of Hank Basket has come out and explained why she started crying after the Super Bowl game played on Sunday. Kendra Wilkinson was at the game with the couple’s baby boy, and both were wearing matching Colts jerseys. “I wasn’t cryin cuz of the damn game it’s cuz the paparazzi have no soul… they wouldn’t leave me n family alone!!!!” she wrote on her Twitter page. Another possible reason for her to be crying is that her hubby mishandled an on-side kick by the Saints which lead to a New Orleans scoring drive. The saints took the momentum from the Colts going into the second half on their way to a 31 17 Super Bowl victory. Kendra added: “People like to twist this stuff… we asked them to stop cuz of the baby n they were way too close n they didn’t care at allllllll.” Share and Enjoy: These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages.
