V-Moda was one of the first third-party companies to come out of the game with an announcement for a headphone/microphone combination for the Apple iPhone. The Vibe Duo headphones combine the original Vibe headphones with an inline microphone, letting you listen to all of your favorite tunes and answer phone calls without having to change a thing.

The headphones will be the first focus of the review, as they are made of a very unique design. They are a mix between earbuds and in-ear headphones, and are quite comfortable. The headphones have pump out some great audio quality, with solid mid-level sounds as well as great bass. The noise isolation is certainly also very solid for the price point. These are some high-quality headphones to say the least.

The other great feature for the Vibe Duo is both the inline microphone as well as its plug which fits into the iPhone without any need for an adapter or anything like that.

Receiving and answering calls with the Vibe Duo is very simple. When you receive a call, the sound from your music will fade out and you will hear the phone’s audio through the earbuds. The inline microphone does a great job of picking up your voice in quiet environments. In busy locations though, it does pick up extra noise as well.

One thing which I found about this headset, which is actually a testament to the quality of the earbuds, is that when you are talking on the phone with both earbuds in, you tend to talk very loudly. This is due to the noise-canceling earbuds. I found that it was better to take one earbud out when talking, so as to not yell into the phone.

The other issue with the Vibe Duo is that it does not let you control any aspect of your calls or anything like that through the headset. This means that you cannot control the volume, answer calls, or anything like that without using the iPhone itself.

The highlight of the Vibe Duo is clearly the build-quality, design, and audio quality. If you are a very call-heavy person, you will likely want to go for a more dedicated headset. If you are someone who prefers high-quality audio though for your music, the Vibe Duo is a great choice. It is extremely well-built, and the inline microphone is designed in such a way that you cannot even tell that there is a mic there.

The Vibe Duo is properly priced at around $100, and features a huge upgrade over the standard Apple earbuds. If you want a great audio experience, with a decent microphone packed in, the Vibe Duo is a solid choice.

Final Score: 8.5
