Apple iTunes Reaches Milestone, Sells Over 5 Billion Songs

Boston (dbTechno) - Apple Inc. has announced on Thursday that over 5 billion songs have now been sold from the iTunes online music store.
Apple stated that the sales numbers have come from market researcher NPD Group.
The Apple iTunes store is the largest music retailer in the U.S. based on sales numbers in terms of music sold from January and February in 2008, surpassing Wal-Mart and others.
Apple has also touted the number of movies being rented and purchased on the iTunes store, as they are now getting 50,000 movies sold and rented each day.
The iTunes store features 8 million songs, 20,000 TV episodes, and over 2,000 movies.
iTunes features movies from all major movie studios including Paramount, Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Sony Pictures Entertainment, MGM, New Line Cinema, Lionsgate, Disney, and 20th Century Fox.
