Black Friday 2012 To Hit Walmart Stores Earlier This Year
Wal Mart Changing the Black Friday Shopping Game
Turkey, football and shopping sprees are three things most people in the US associate with the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Traditionally the shoppers have poised themselves to be at the doors of a store the moment Black Friday sales are available. This year Wal Mart is changing the rulebook and the retail giant is going to start those super deals at 8pm on Thanksgiving Day.
Not only will the savings begin earlier than ever, early-birds can expect a staggered deal structure. Those who are in line by 8pm will be first to take advantage of the low price deals that will be offered on games, clothing and toys. Two hours later the wave of savings will be introduced on top electronic gear. High Def televisions, phones and cameras are expected to be high on the wish lists of many shoppers.
Then at 5am on Friday the full store sales will be rolled out for customers to explore. Wal Mart has redesigned many of the special deals and hope that more shoppers will be able to take advantage of the deeply discounted prices.
“We got customer feedback that said, ‘I like to go out and shop earlier and get to bed earlier,’ ” said Duncan MacNaughton, chief merchandising and marketing officer of Wal-Mart U.S.
This year we will see how these plans play out in the real world. The official holiday shopping season is now in countdown mode.
