Polaroid Officially Ends The Instant Film Era

Boston (dbTechno) - According to reports, Polaroid is set to no longer make instant film for those instant cameras which print pictures as soon as you take them. The instant film era will come to an end in 2009.
Polaroid introduced the instant camera in 1948 in the U.S., but some 60 years later, it is now completely out of date and obsolete. One year ago they stopped making the cameras, and now they are no longer making the film. Read more
Kodak To Put 5.0 Megapixels In Your Phone

Boston (dbTechno) -As if having a 2-3 megapixel camera in your phone wasn’t good enough, Kodak believes they can now develop up to a 5-megalpixel camera to put into your next phone. Eastman Kodak Company is so confident that their new 1.4 micron sensor will be able to be put into some of the cheapest phones, that they are showing them off to mobile phone companies at Mobile World Congress (MWC) next week.
The KAC-05020 image sensor combines CMOS technology with Kodak’s own Color Filter Pattern (sic) technology to deliver brilliant looking pics, even in very low light. Kodak says this makes the 1.4 micron KAC-05020 better even than 1.75 micron pixel CMOS image sensors.”Camera phones and other small-pixel consumer imaging devices often suffer from poor performance, especially under low light conditions. SanDisk Unveils New 32 GB Flash Card

Sony Reveals Digital Camera With 4GB Of Onboard Memory

Boston (dbTechno) - Sony has unveiled the Cyber-shot DSC-T2 which comes with 4GB of internal onboard memory.
The new Cyber-shot DSC-T2 from Sony has a nice eight-megapixel point-and-shoot camera. With 4GB of onboard internal Flash memory users should not have to worry about storing any photos.
The front of the new camera has a 3x optical zoom lens and is made by Carl Zeiss. The lens also has many nice features including optical image stabilization.
The back of the camera sports a 2.7-inch touchscreen LCD for navigating menus and such. It also has smile-detection which is supposed to recognize when people are smiling and automatically take snapshots.
The new camera, the DSC-T2 will ship in December and retail for around $350.
It will come in many different colors as well making for one of the more ideal holiday gifts for those looking for a new digital camera.
The colors will include pink, white, black, blue, and possibly others.
Canon Announces The EOS 40D digital SLR

Boston (dBTechno) - After months of rumors, Canon has today revealed its EOS 40D digital SLR.
The new EOS 40D sports a 10.1MP CMOS sensor, 6.5 FPS burst shooting mode (maximum burst of 75 JPEG images or 17 RAW images), 9-cross type AF engine and DIGIC III image processor.
“[There are] very pro type capabilities on this camera, certainly some big improvements over the 30D in all of these areas,” said Chuck Westfall, Canon’s director of media and consumer relations, in an interview with DigitalCameraInfo.com.
