FCC To Test Transition From Analog To Digital TV In N.C.

Norfolk (dbTechno) - The FCC has announced that they will test out the transition from analog TV broadcasts to digital this September. The test will be carried out in Wilmington, North Carolina and will likely expand from there.
Starting on September 8, WWAY, WSFX, WECT, WILM-LP, and W51CW will all be turning off their analog signals. Read more
Retailers Reveal God of War III Release Date On PS3

Washington (dbTechno) - Though it has not been confirmed in any way by Sony themselves, retailers are all in agreement on the release date of God of War III on the Sony PS3, stating it will arrive next March.
GameStop and Amazon have both begun to take pre-orders for the highly-anticipated God of War III, which has been confirmed as a 2009 release from Sony. Read more
Facebook Connect Makes Users’ Profiles Portable On The Web

Washington (dbTechno) - It did not take long for Facebook to come out with an announcement to counter the MySpace announcement of Data Availability. Facebook has announced a similar feature with Facebook Connect, which will allow users to take their profiles and use them on any site on the Internet.

PS3 Release Pushes Gran Turismo Above 50 Million Units

Boston (dbTechno) - Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that the worldwide shipment of the Gran Turismo franchise has now exceeded 50 million units. The Gran Turismo franchise launched back in 1997 and has appeared on the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3. The recent release of GT 5: Prologue on the PS3 pushed it above the mark.
Sony stated that within 10 years and 4 months, the franchise has shipped more than 50 million units around the world. Read more

MySpace Data Availability Allows Users To Access Profile Across Internet

Boston (dbTechno) - News Corp’s MySpace social network is set to expand again in terms of what features it offers with Data Availability. This new feature will allow users to share and access their profile, pictures, videos, etc. across the Internet on other Web sites.
Users are going to be able to go into their MySpace profile and make an update. Once that update is made, other sites who work off of MySpace profiles and features will update automatically. Read more

Boston (dbTechno) - Critics have been praising Rockstar’s GTA IV ever since they got their hands on it, as have common gamers as the gaming world has been blown away by the game thus far. This is clear and evident when you look at the retail numbers as the game has taken in over $500 million in its first week, breaking all records.

Judge Orders TorrentSpy To Pay MPAA $110M In Damages

Boston (dbTechno) - U.S. District Judge Florence-Marie Cooper has ruled that TorrentSpy, a BitTorrent tracking site, must pay $110 million to the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) for copyright infringement.
TorrentSpy was a U.S.-based torrent tracking service.
This part March, it was forced to shut down when it lost its case against the MPAA. Read more
Neil Young Announces Release Of Archive On Blu-ray

Washington (dbTechno) - Singer Neil Young took to the stage at the JavaOne conference in order to make a big announcement for Blu-ray fans. He announced that he will release his archive of music and photos on Blu-ray.

EA Announces Fight Night Round 4, Mike Tyson Included

Boston (dbTechno) - Electronic Arts has announced that Fight Night Round 4 is in development for the Sony PS3 and Microsoft Xbox 360. The game will have many new features as well as fighters. The bigged addition will be the inclusion of the baddest man on the planet, Iron Mike Tyson.
Mike Tyson will be featured in a boxing video game for the first time in almost 10 years, as he will appear as a playable fighter in Fight Night Round 4. Read more
