FCC Plans Real-World Test For Transition From Analog To DTV

Norfolk (dbTechno) - The FCC has announced that they will test out the nratsition from analog TV broadcasts to digital this September. The test will be carried out in Wilmington, North Carolina and will likely expand from there.
Starting on September 8, WWAY, WSFX, WECT, WILM-LP, and W51CW will all be turning off their analog signals. Read more
RIM Next-Gen BlackBerry Bold Makes Huge Debut

Boston (dbTechno) - Research in Motion have been hard at work and under a lot of pressure to put out a great product with the next-gen BlackBerry, and they apparently have done just that with the BlackBerry Bold.
RIM has come out with some fantastic phones as of late, but nothing which could really put the BlackBerry up against the Apple iPhone in terms of the cool factor, until now. Read more
FBI Investigates Counterfeit Chinese Computer Parts

Lawyer Says TorrentSpy Won’t Pay $111 Million Judgment

New York (dbTechno) - The lawyer for TorrentSpy has come out and stated that the $111 million judgment to be paid to the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) will not happen.
Just one day after a Los Angeles federal court ruled in favor of the MPAA, the lawyer, Iraq Rothken, stated that TorrentSpy will not be paying out the money. Read more
Gates Happy About Rapid Sales Of Windows Vista

Las Vegas (dbTechno) - Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates has come out and stated that he is extremely happy about the “rapid sales rate” that Windows Vista has experienced since it launched.

Bill Would Force ID Checks When Retailers Sell Games

Boston (dbTechno) - Representatives of the House have proposed a bill which will force retailers to check the ID of people purchasing video games rated M for Mature, or AO for Adults Only. The bill would make the act of selling an M rated game to a minor, a criminal offense.

Google’s New Web Security Focuses On Corporations

Washington (dbTechno) - Google announced the release of Web Security for Enterprise on Thursday, a new Web security product which will focus on protecting corporations from malware attacks in real time.
Product marketing manager, Tim Johnson, wrote in a blog post that Web Security for Enterprise will allow corporations to monitor everything an employee does on the Internet. Read more
Medicare Rules Target Agents Selling Private Health Insurance

Boston (dbTechno) - A new federal rule has been proposed by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services which targets agents selling private health insurance plans to the elderly and disabled. The new rule will make it harder to force those eligible for Medicare into things they really do not need.
The new federal rule would ban agents from trying to convince the elderly and disabled into Medicare Advantage plans and other private insurance plans they don’t need or want. Read more
America Movil Bringing Apple iPhone To Latin America

Rockstar Fixes GTA IV Online Problems With Patch

New York (dbTechno) - Rockstar has announced that they have released a new patch for the Sony PS3 version of GTA IV. The patch will address the problems reported with the online portion of the game, which has caused GTA IV to lock up on many occasions.
The patch comes in as an 18MB download and should clear just about all of the online problems up with the PS3 version of the game. Read more
