Microsoft Begins Shipping Windows XP SP3 To Manufacturers
April 22, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - Microsoft has confirmed that they have started shipping out the first versions of Windows XP Service Pack 3 to PC manufacturers. Users of XP will be able to download SP3 on April 29.
Microsoft stated that Windows XP SP3 will contain all of the past updates since Windows XP SP2 released in 2004.
It will improve performance of the highly-popular operating system, as well as add new features which were only available in Windows Vista in the past.
The new SP3 will also allow for SP3 PCs to work better with Windows Vista PCs.
This will be the last major update to Windows XP before Microsoft stops offering the operating system.
The last date for manufacturers to get XP will be on Jun 30, after that it will only be available on low-cost PCs.
For those who do not download SP3 on April 29, it will be sent through automatic updates over the summer.
