May 10, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - Climate Counts has called out Apple, stating that they have not done enough to go green and fight global warming. The report released by the organization shows that Apple is lagging in terms of climate change and going green.
The non-profit group Climate Counts released their second-annual report which rates how well companies are doing to fight global climate change.
The computer company who ranked highest on the list was IBM, which scored a 77 on a scale of 0 to 100.
Canon, Toshiba, Sony, Motorola, and Dell all tied for second place with 49 points, followed by Nokia with 37 points. They were all significantly ahead of Apple.
Apple, according to Climate Counts, has not supported any type of climate-change legislation, and also failed to report information on how they were doing with global warming.
The group stated Apple is “A choice to avoid for the climate-conscious consumer.”
One company which saw a huge improvement was Google, which earned a 55, a 38-point increase from a year ago. This compared to Microsoft and Yahoo who had 38 and 37 points respectively.
The lowest of lows was eBay and Amazon.com who both had just 5 points.
