Microsoft Launches Subscription Version Of Office Software
July 2, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - Microsoft made the announcement on Wednesday that they are launching a subscription-based version of its Office software.
Microsoft will launch Equipt on July 15, which will combine Word, as well as Excel.
The product will be available in the U.S. only to start, and will be offered as a subscription costing $69.99 per year. The subscription will allow a user to operate the software on up to 3 personal computers.
On top of this, Microsoft is also going to allow customers to create and save documents online thorugh the Office Live workspace.
This comes as Google, as well as Adobe have both launched their own Internet-based office tools.
Microsoft believes that by offering this subscription-based service, they will not see much of a reduction in sales of Office to consumers.
