The new stand-alone graphics chip from Intel is called Larrabee, and has been in development for quite some time.

Intel has been receiving a lot of hype and buzz for the new chip, which brings the company away from past efforts with integrated graphics.

Intel will be based on the universal Intel x86 architecture, with the first release from the Larrabee line aiming for the PC market.

The company seeks to garner up a nice chump of the PC gaming market from Nvidia and ATI, who have been fighting over it for years.

Larrabee, over time, is expected to have dozens of cores, and possibly hundreds in the future as it evolves, combining the best elements of a CPU with a graphics processor.

More details are expected to be revealed on the Intel Larrabee chip later in the year.
