Sony Takes A Hard Hit WIth Huge Vaio Notebook Recall

Washington (dbTechno) - Sony has taken quite a hit this week following the announcement that they have been forced to issue a recall of Vaio notebooks, due to overheating problems.
The overheating problems have been attributed to the wiring system inside the Vaio laptops.
The recall has impacted the VGN-TZ100 series, VGN-TZ200 series, VGN-TZ300 series, and the VGN-TZ2000 series models.
Customers have been notified that they need to be sure to check their notebook computers for possible issues.
Sony has recalled roughly 75,000 Vaio TZ-series notebooks in the U.S.
The estimated number of notebooks that have been recalled around the world though are around 450,000 units in total.
There have been over a dozen cases to this point where the notebooks have overheated, with some cases of injuries being reported in the U.S.
There have been hundreds of cases of overheating around the world.
All of the products recalled were manufacturered in Japan and the U.S. from May 2007 to July 2008.
Following the recall, Sony Corp has seen their shares fall to a 3-year low.
