Apple Removes Antivirus Suggestion For Mac Users

December 3, 2008

Apple has removed a suggestion for Mac users to run antivirus program to keep their computers protected...........Washington (dbTechno) - Apple has removed a suggestion for Mac users to run antivirus program to keep their computers protected.

Apple had the suggestion up as a support ticket from their knowledge base.

The suggestion was for Mac computer users to run more than one antivirus program.

The company since removed the suggestion though, stating that it was very old, and out of date.

Apple spokesperson Bill Evans called the article “inaccurate” as to the reason why Apple took it down.

They have stated that the Mac is now set with built-in technologies to protect users.

This keeps users protected from all types of viruses, malicious software, etc.

This is coming into focus as Apple updated a note on the support knowledge base a month ago.

The note read “Apple encourages the widespread use of multiple antivirus utilities so that virus programmers have more than one application to circumvent, thus making the whole virus writing process more difficult.”

This was updated, which caused many Mac users to become quite fearful of how vulnerable their computer was.

Apple took it down though on Tuesday night, and posted that it was too old.
