Microsoft May Offer Free Upgrades To Windows 7 OS
January 7, 2009
Washington (dbTechno) - It appears that Microsoft is going to offer some type of free upgrades to the Windows 7 operating system.
According to reports, any consumer who purchases a Windows Vista PC after July 1, 2009 will be able to upgrade to Windows 7 for free once it is released.
This has yet to be confirmed by Microsoft so as of right now this still has to be labeled as a rumor.
Microsoft has done similar tactics in the past though where the operating system would either be a free upgrade or be sold at a discounted price.
The idea is to be able to continue to sell PCs without people worrying that they will have to soon upgrade to the next latest-greatest operating system.
This would be similar to the Windows Vista Express Upgrade promotion conducted back in 2006 by Microsoft.
