Microsoft Limiting Free Windows 7 Upgrades
June 29, 2009

Boston (DbTechNo) - Microsoft have announced that there will only be a limited number of free upgrades for their new Windows 7operating system.
They have announced that there will only be 25 free upgrades of the software, a punch in the gut for big businesses looking to purchase new computers and have them all running the same software.
Why Microsoft have chosen to do this is anybody’s guess, maybe its to make people actually buy the program instead of upgrading to it for free.
“Microsoft has limited the number of free Windows 7 upgrades that can be claimed via its Windows Upgrade Option,” wrote Gartner analyst Michael Silver. “Organizations need to understand their Windows 7 requirements and obtain rights for the best value,” Silver said.
Who is entitled for a free upgrade? All those who purchased a computer from last Friday which runs the Vista operating system.
“Anyone who buys a PC from a participating OEM or retailer with Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate on it will all receive an upgrade to the corresponding version at little or no cost to customers,” wrote Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc.
