Tobacco is believed to be the cause of a lack of sleep.

According to a new study done by researchers at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, smokers are four times more likely to have trouble sleeping at night and waking up feeling rested and ready to take on the day.

This was compared directly to people who did not smoke.

They followed the brain activity of smokers and non-smokers and found that smokers have a much harder time to fall into a deep sleep.

Dr. Naresh M. Punjabi directed the study,s tating “Sleep has to be considered part of the problem. Physicians should not neglect sleep-related issues of smokers, especially sleep doctors.”

The report has appeared in the journal Chest.

It stated that smokers spend more time in a light sleep. Non-smokers spend more time in a deep sleep, allowing them to feel more awake the next day.

A reason for this is nicotine and its impact on the brain.
