Pentagon Calls Satellite Missile Hit A Success

Washington (dbTechno) – The Pentagon came out on Monday and stated that their mission to shoot a malfunctioning U.S. spy satellite out of the sky before it slammed into Earth was a complete success. They fired a missile aimed at the fuel tank of the satellite from a Navy warship in the Pacific Ocean last week, scoring a direct hit.

Last Wednesday, the Pentagon carried out a mission as they shot a missile at a malfunctioning spy satellite which was over 150 miles above the Earth, and moving at a speed of 20,000 mph or so. It was the first time ever a sea-based missile was launched and hit a satellite.

Marine Gen. James Cartwright put out a statement, saying “By all accounts this was a successful mission.”

“From the debris analysis, we have a high degree of confidence the satellite’s fuel tank was destroyed and the hydrazine has been dissipated.”

The missile impact caused the satellite to smash into thousands of tiny pieces, no larger than a softball according to reports. They are believed to have all entered into the Earth’s atmosphere. It is not expected that any will impact the ground intact.

All is not well on the worldwide front though as China and Russia both stated that they are unhappy with the way in which the satellite was shot down. They have growing concerns that the U.S. had more motive to shoot down the satellite due to information that was on it, even more than them wanting to hit it before it landed on Earth.
