Chemical Exposure Linked To Gulf War Syndrome

March 10, 2008

A new study published on Monday has revealed evidence that chemical exposure may to blame for the mysterious illnesses of the Gulf War soldiers after returning home..Washington (dbTechno) - A new study published on Monday has revealed evidence that chemical exposure may to blame for the mysterious illnesses of the Gulf War soldiers after returning home.

The study has been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

It took years following the 1991 Gulf War for anyone to figure out exactly what was causing these mysterious illnesses to the returning troops.

The author of the study, Beatrice Golomb of the University of California San Diego’s school of medicine stated that there is enough evidence tos afely say that there is a link between chemical exposure, and chronic multi-symptom health problems.

The study states that some of these health problems are linked to damage caused by pills prescribed to protect soldiers against things such as nerve gas, pesticides, and other chemicals.

The chemicals the soldiers were exposed to came through pesticides, as well as anti-nerve gas pills.

It is also believed that they took in chemicals when destroying a weapons depot, which had the nerve gas sarin.

It is said, based on research shown in the study, these pesticides are also used in the U.S. as well in agriculture, even today.

This means that the same health problems Gulf War veterans face, may also be hitting regular citizens in the U.S.

The study has been linked directly to Gulf War syndrome, which caused chronic health problems in around 30% of deployed troops.

One Response to “Chemical Exposure Linked To Gulf War Syndrome”

If the US had admitted to doing this in 1999, maybe my best friend would be alive today. He killed himself saying the Army wouldn’t believe him about his symptoms. I believed then and still do today that if he would have gotten the treatment he needed, he’d be here right now.

I can’t say enough swear words to express how angry I feel.

My heartfelt thanks to Dr. Beatrice Golomb.
