Addicted to Texting or E-Mail? You May Be Mentally Ill

Boston (dbTechno) - According to a new study published in the American Journal of Psychiatry, people who excessively send e-mails and text messages may have a mental illness. The report stated that the addictions are just another form of being mentally ill.

Dr. Jerald Block stated that this type of addiction is very similar to a gaming addiction, virtual sex addiction, and other similar acts.

He detailed four symptoms in the article published.

The first is that the excessive use of your computer for e-mails or your phone for texting cause you to neglect sleeping, eating, and lose track of time.

The second symptom is a strong feeling of withdrawal if you do not have access to e-mail or texting.

You also will feel a constant need to improve your equipment, meaning to get a better cell phone or computer, as well as a negative side effects, fatigue, loss of social skills, etc.

This is an extremely interesting report as it states that excessive test messaging and e-mail are basically just a mental illness. Dr. Block stated that South Korea has the greatest amount of research into internet addiction.

He states that it impacts 200,000 South Korean children, with 80% of them likely getting psychotropic medications.

It was noted by Dr. Block that addictions to text messaging, and e-mails have a high relapse rate, and are difficult to treat.
