Parents Of Blind California Girl Lose $1 Billion Motrin Suit
July 18, 2008
Sacramento (dbTechno) - The parents of 11-year old Sabrina Johnson has lost their lawsuit against the drug maker Johnson & Johnson over their drug, Children’s Motrin.
The parents, Joan and Kennth Johnson put in a claim in their suit that their 11-year old daughter suffered a severe reaction to the pain killer drug.
The reaction took place when she was six years old, and they believe it caused her to become legally blind.
The Los Angeles jury did not agree though, as they voted 9 to 3 in favor of the drug maker.
Doctors at the trial testified that the chance of having a severe allergic reaction to Children’s Motrin was one in a million.
They were seeking $14 million in damages, $103 million for pain and suffering, as well as $950 million in punitive damages.
The plan for them now is to appeal the ruling and continue the push.
