Savage Nation Loses Advertisers After Autism Remarks
July 23, 2008
New York (dbTechno) - It was just a few days ago when Michael Savage went on the nationally-syndicated talk radio show, The Savage Nation, and made some controversial remarks about autistic children. Since then, advertisers and the public have responded, backing away from the show.
The host of the show, Michael Savage, made some very offensive comments about children with autism.
He stated “I’ll tell you what autism is. In 99% of the cases ,it’s a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out. That’s what autism is.”
He went to by calling autistic children “idiots” and “morons.”
Since the, many have fought back including The Autism Action Network, and others. Groups have called for him to be boycotted, and fired.
He has defended his comments though, standing by w hat he said.
This has not stopped advertisers from pulling away from his show, getting as much distance as possible. One of the biggest advertisers to pull out has been Aflac, which spent $90 million in advertising last year.
Autism is a disease which hits 1 in every 150 children in the U.S.
