Washington (dbTechno) – According to a new study carried out in the U.S., playing video games with a lot of action can improve your eyesight.
The study was carried out by Daphne Bavelier of the University of Rochester in New York.
Researchers took a group of 22 students and split them up into two groups to play different types of video games.
The first group played a game from Activision, Call of Duty 2, as well as Unreal Tournament from Epic.
The second group played a far more laid back game in the form of The Sims 2 from EA.
The idea behind the study was to see if there was any benefit to playing the games that required more attention, hand-eye coordination, etc.
Over a period of 9 weeks, each student played its particular game or games for 50=hours in total.
They then carried out tests to see what impact the games had on their vision.
They found that those who played the action games saw their vision improve a great deal compared to those playing the more calm games.
There was a 58% improvement in terms of seeing differences in contrast overall. These contrast differences mainly had to do with seeing different types of gray colors.
The findings have been published in the journal Nature Neuroscience.
