It is being reported that pro football hall of famer Merlin Olsen has died at the age of 69 after a lengthy battle with mesothelioma.
Olsen was a 14 time probowl defensive end who played for the Los Angeles Rams.
Following his career in the NFL, he turned to acting, starring in “Little House on the Prairie” and numerous commercials.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell released a statement praising Olsen for his tireless work ethic and dedication to the game of football.
“He cared deeply about people, especially those that shared the game of football with him,” Goodell said. “Merlin was a larger-than-life person, literally and figuratively, and leaves an enormously positive legacy.”
Olsen remains the Rams leader when it comes to tackles, with 915.
