A tour bus has crashed in Washington DC, killing the driver and injuring many onboard.
The bus, carrying children and their parents plunged off a highway falling 45 feet and landing alongside I-270 in Bethesda, a suburb of D.C.
According to police, the vehicle, which belongs to Wolf’s Bus Lines Inc plowed through a guard rail, collided with a concrete barrier and then fell.
The driver of the bus, 66-year-old Joseph A. Clabaugh Jr. of Hanover, Pennsylvania was pronounced dead and 12 people were taken to hospital.
Police are not sure what happened to cause the bus crash and will be investigating the incident to determine what went wrong.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with not only the students who were on the bus from St. Patrick’s, but all of the people who were on the bus, especially to the man who passed away,” said Rev. William C. Forrey, pastor at St. Patrick School in Carlisle.
