Umpire Kills Cricket Fan With Bat After Heated Argument

In northern Bangladesh, an umpire killed a cricket fan with a bat after an argument over one of the decisions during an amateur game in Kishoreganj, a remote community.

Bangladesh police are still searching for the umpire, who has yet to be named by authorities. He is believed to be in hiding. A 15 year old Nazrul Islam began arguing with the umpire over a disagreement with the previous call.

That is when the umpire grabbed a bat from one of the players and swung at the teenager. At first spectators though Nazrul Islam was okay, but he ended up dying the next day after suffering an internal cerebral hemorrhage.

The bats used in play are typically made of willow wood and treated with raw linseed oil. Light in weight, they are designed to make a significant impact without splintering on impact.
