Fan Falls From Metlife Stadium Escalator
Sunday was a lucky day for the New York Giants Football team as they emerged victorious in their competition with the Washington Redskins, but not so lucky for one of the fans watching the game.
Police have reported that a 42-year old was critically injured after falling from an escalator while leaving Metlife Stadium following the game in East Rutherford.
Police are trying to determine just what caused the fan to fall about 21 feet from the escalator and onto a metal stage below.
Police are uncertain if the man was pushed, was involved in horseplay, or simply lost his balance, causing him to take the tragic tumble.
The fan, who remains unidentified, was taken by air ambulance to nearby Hackensack University Hospital for a thorough medical examination and proper treatment.
So far he has been listed in critical condition as police continue to investigate whether a malfunction of the escalator contributed to his fall.
