The stabbing occurred last week in Waukesha, Wisconsin, after the two suspects became enamored of a figure they had encountered online called Slender Man. The two say that they wanted to go live in Slender Man’s mansion in Nicolet National Park after leaving their classmate for dead. The victim’s parents do not want her identified, saying that she has a long road of recovery ahead of her but that she is looking forward to recuperating at the family’s home and spending time over the summer months with her pet cats.
Both of her assailants have been arrested and are in police custody, charged as adults despite their age. They face charges of first-degree intentional homicide and could face long prison sentences for their crime. According to Anissa Weier’s brother, his sister began having a very hard time distinguishing between fantasy and reality and was obsessed with the myth of the Slender Man character which has been popular with certain groups on the Internet since 2009. Morgan Geyser’s father allegedly was aware of her fascination with the strange character, but thought it was simply a phase that she was going through and nothing to worry about.

Twelve Year Old Girls Blame Slenderman for their Stabbing of a Friend
Waukesha, Wisconsin – Police in this Southeastern city of 70,000 people have arrested two 12-year-old girls in connection with the brutal stabbing of their friend. They will be tried as adults. It is unclear just what the prosecutors can achieve by trying minors as adults given that the Supreme Court struck down laws that allow extreme punishments to be imposed on minors. Extreme punishments include life sentences and the death penalty.
Given that the girls will be tried for first-degree attempted murder, the state has limited options to select in terms of punishments should they secure a conviction.
As per the two girls, they were acting on behest of the mythical internet ghoul called “Slenderman” created on the website creepypasta.com. He is said to be an extremely gangly fellow of enormous height.
One black and white photograph of him, shows a man with a sheen over his head holding hands with a young girl who appears to be 10 – 12 years old. She doesn’t even reach his belt line.
The backdrop is a wooded forest with fog rolling in. The specter looks creepy and was intended to be just that: a creepy figure to form the basis of spooky, but innocent stories. At least that is per Victor Surge, the man who created the mythical giant back in 2009.
However, the girls in question became convinced the stories of Slenderman were true and were prepared to make a blood sacrifice of their friend in order to become proxies for the creepy thin man. Their plight is raising concerns about the impact of websites such as creepypasta.com which are the principal sources for information on the paranormal. Defenders of this genre of internet meme believe that the real problem is a lack of adequate treatment for people with mental illnesses. They claim that often times people like the two girls in question are marginalized until they commit horrible acts of violence as they and Elliot Rogers did.

Creepypasta wiki, unofficial home to stories involving the character (and others like him), has had to issue a statement confirming that he is not real.
The most important part of the statement, highlighted on the wiki’s main page, reads:
ALL WORKS PRESENTED ON THIS WIKI AND OTHER SITES (INCLUDING SLENDERMAN, JEFF THE KILLER, BEN, SONIC.EXE, ETC) ARE FICTIONAL STORIES AND CHARACTERS
Of course, only a small minority of people (mostly newcomers) on the wiki (and the Internet) truly believe what they read here. And for most people, they will not attempt replicate atrocities presented in some of the literature on the wiki. Something like this was bound to happen, considering the size of the Creepypasta community. All it takes is one person to do something insane and radical in the name of someone or something.
This is an isolated incident, and does not represent or attribute the Creepypasta community as a whole. This wiki does not endorse or advocate for the killing, worship, and otherwise replication of rituals of fictional works. There is a line of between fiction and reality, and it is up to you to realize where the line is. We are a literature site, not a crazy satanic cult.
