Texas newlyweds Nicolas Cruz, 31, and Kristina Munoz, 26, died in a car crash after colliding head-on into each other’s vehicles. The tragic accident occurred on Wednesday, June 4, around 10AM near the couple’s workplace close to Odell, TX. The couple was recently married and resided in Chillicothe, TX.
It is believed that the horrific crash happened after Christina Munoz’s 1999 Saturn drifted across the narrow, unlined County Road 87 and hit Nicolas Cruz’s 1990 Mazda, immediately killing the newlywed couple. There aren’t any skid marks, thus, it is assumed one driver was driving in the middle of the road. The cars were completely mangled and special tools were required by the rescuers to retrieve the young couple out from their lacerated automobiles.
They both worked at Mahard Pullet Egg Farm in Prosper and the wreck took place between the two work buildings. It is believed that they were driving separate vehicles because both used their vehicles for work and likely had varying shifts. The crash occurred at the crest of a hill on the county road. They were pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Gene Morton at 10;19AM.
The cause of the crash is yet to be officially determined but it looks like speed and the fact that the country road where it took place was narrow, unlined and on a hill crest could have all played a role in the wreck. In reference to the road, a trooper stated, “This is a very narrow, blacktop county road and there are no markings.” The couple was not wearing their seatbelts. Authorities are still in the process of investigating this sad car crash.
Tragically, Kristina Munoz and Nicolas Cruz leave behind three young children. To read more on this news story please visit http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/texas-newlyweds-driving-separate-cars-die-head-on-crash-police-article-1.1819193.
