A ten-month-old baby has been rescued after she was found floating nearly 1km out at sea in an inflatable toy.
According to CNN, a boat with the Turkish coastguard made a dramatic rescue after strong winds took Melda Ilgın Çanakkale from a beach in Turkey out towards the Greek Island of Lesbos.

The child’s parents had forgotten they had left her in the flotation device, The Turkey’s BGN News said.
The parents didn’t notice Melda was missing until other sunbathers saw the child drifting out to sea.
Other people at beach tried to reach the infant but the current was too strong and they called the coast guard.
The child was picked up and brought back to shore.

They need to spay and neuter these parents and give this kid to someone who actually WANTS a baby.
Child endangerment. The heroic efforts of the coast guard are to be commended but to release the child back to the parents immediately, that’s a debatable action.
Stories like this make me furious, because they are just SO preventable! Several years ago before I moved to the West Coast I lived in Massachusetts. A little two year old girl name Caleigh Anne Harrison was playing in the sand with her mom, older sister, and dog. The wind caught the dog’s ball and blew it about 100 feet away. The mom didn’t even have her back turned for a minute before Caleigh had disappeared. She must have ran down to the waters edge, fell in, and was quickly pulled under and out to the sea. They never found her. In a case like that I can almost understand how it happened- it was cold out and they were just playing in the sand, not even close to the water’s edge…but this story is beyond ridiculous. The parents obviously left an infant IN the water and forgot about her. How in the world does that happen?! I really wish there were more water safety PSA campaigns in the summer just to keep it on everyone’s mind. You can’t mess with the ocean, and sadly, the vast VAST majority of water deaths are easily preventable and usually due to careless oversight and not paying attention.
I KNEW that commenters here would throw the book — actually the whole bookcase — at these parents and demand that the child be taken from them, etc. etc. And MAYBE that’s true. Then, again, maybe NOT!
Before you do throw that bookcase at them, stop and reminisce. What was the stupidest thing you ever did in your late teens and early 20’s? And, yes, even as young parents, what’s the stupidest thing you ever did? If you were HONEST with yourselves, you MUST have come up with something that is STILL spine-tingling worthy.
Then, give thanks to God THIS wasn’t it!
How do you not notice your 10 month old drifting away? Putting a child that young in the ocean wouldn’t you be watching them like a hawk just for their own safety. Thankfully this story had a happy ending.
It’s not like they thought the child was going to get up and get into trouble. Perhaps they were just resting their eyes from the sun, no strangers in site etc. Perhaps a wave just took her out quickly and the parents weren’t experienced swimmers. Perhaps panic took over, I mean who knows what happen. Thank God, the baby didn’t get tipped over by a wave or a dolphin etc. Hopefully a learning experience to her and everyone who reads the story.
Just to show the brains of the young peopel now days !! Why would you ever put ypur 10 month old in a fun tube in the ocean in any circunstance unless your boat went down and that was the only thing available !! Take that child away from them .!!!!
