Chesapeake murder-suicide ends with six dead

Six people are dead following an apparent murder-suicide in the Deep Creek section of Chesapeake.

According to reports, the suspected shooter in this case is named Cameron Dooley.

The source says the victims  in the Chesapeake murder-suicide were Cameron’s grandmother Doris Dooley, his father Todd Dooley, his mother Lori Dooley, his sister Brooke Dooley and brother Landon Dooley.

According to Kelly O’Sullivan with Chesapeake Police, officers were called to the 2300 block of Wildwood Road around 3:35 p.m. Wednesday to check on the welfare of a person.

Friends and neighbors tell 13News Now reporter Marcella Robertson all six people were members of the Dooley family, who were prominent in the community and members of the Temple Baptist Church of Chesapeake. When they arrived officers found one person dead inside the home.

Further investigation by police at the first home led them to another home at the intersection of North George Washington Highway and Wintergreen Drive — a few blocks from Wildwood Road.

Once there, officers found an armed person who would not come out of the home.

Police blocked off the neighborhood and tried to negotiate with the person to get them out of the house.

After several hours, officers entered the home and found five people dead — including the armed person they were trying to negotiate with.

According to O’Sullivan, all six people who died were family members. Investigators believe the armed person killed the family members before officers arrived to the scene.

A neighbor across the street talked to to reporters and gave his reaction to the traumatic events.

“It’s crazy, it’s too much. I’m right beside it,” Demetrius Peacock said. “My family and I don’t feel safe.”

Another neighbor expressed that she felt shocked and devastated about the incident.
