Capcom Hints At Street Fighter IV On Wii

He stated at GDC last week that a Wii version is definitely not out of the realm of possibility.

He stated “Street Fighter IV, as it stands now, would be well-suited for the higher-level platforms. But the game doesn’t have to have these visuals in order to be fun. We could go, potentially, to the Wii. We could make it on Game Boy, for all we know right now.”

He stated “As long as the rules are the same, that can be independent of the visuals. So we’re not going to be limited by any hardware specs, we’re going to aim as wide as possible.”

This means that the end of the road for Street Fighter IV may not be on just the Xbox 360 and PS3, as Capcom may not be done.

It would be no surprise as third-party publishers are more and more trying to get their games on as many platforms as possible.

A Street Fighter game with the Wii controls would surely be interesting. Never say never apparently.

  • I don’t care, just get it out for the PS3 and I’ll be happy.

  • I’d be more interested in a DS version. No doubt a Wii version would have useless motion controls. Cutting the visuals for portability is fine, but as the previous comment states, the PS3 version will do nicely. Especially with a real arcade joystick — props to Sony for not pulling a Microsoft on 3rd party controllers!
