Washington (dbTechno) – Ubisoft has announced that they have reached a deal with Tom Clancy to bring a Tom Clancy MMO game to next-gen consoles, likely the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.
Ubisoft made the announcement on Thursday that they have reached a deal with Mr. Tom Clancy to acquire all intellectual property rights to the Tom Clancy name.
They have acquired the rights on a perpetual basis and are free of all related future royalty payments.
There has yet to be any price released as to how much this cost Ubisoft, but that should be revealed in the future in financial reports.
It is believed that one of the first steps Ubisoft will take is to make an MMO game based on a Tom Clancy franchise.
Ubisoft confirmed this during a conference call with analysts, stating that they are now free to go ahead with an MMO game based on the Tom Clancy brand.
I hope they add PLAYSTATION 3 HOME support…
sounds great. i’m just glad MS and the xbox brought Clancy games to the industry. The online coop of Splinter Cell is extremely fun. Altho, since the ps3 doesn’t come a voice-communicator, as the 360 does, it’s going to be very hard to coordinate any type of significant plans on the PSN with other gamers online. bleh…
I was under the imression that Tom Clancy’s “Endwar” was an MMO that’s been in development for a couple fo years now and is planned for a Q4 2008 release.
