Washington (dbTechno) – EA made the announcement on Wednesday that the best-selling PC game franchise, The Sims, has now sold more than 100 million copies worldwide. This comes as fans eagerly await the release of The Sims 3.
The first Sims game was released after being developed by none other than Will Wright back in 2000. It was followed up by numerous expansion packs, and The Sims 2 in 2004.
From there, The Sims continued to grow with an incredible fan-base as it was a major hit with both men and women.
The franchise is now available in 60 countries around the world.
EA stated “If 100 million boxes of The Sims were lined up and end-to-end, they would stretch from New York City to Moscow. And, with 100 million sold, one out of seven home sin Europe and one out of three homes in America would have a product of The Sims franchise.”
To celebrate, EA has announced that users of The Sims will be able to download a free outfit on April 16 at the official web site.
