Sony Delays PS3′s PlayStation Home Service Again

The new expected launch of the virtual online community, Home, is expected to be autumn of this year.

PlayStation Home is being geared as the PS3′s own version of Second Life, with many PS3 owners clamoring to take part in Home.

It will allow PS3 owners to create online characters, chat with visitors, play games, set up their own apartments, and more.

Sony has delayed Home for a second time now, citing a lack of quality in the product as the reason for the delay.

Sony Computer Entertainment Chief Executive Kazuo Hirai put out a statement saying “We understand that we are asking PS3 and prospective PS3 users to wait a bit longer. But we have come to the conclusion that we need more time to refine the service to ensure a more focused gaming entertainment experience than what it is today.”

PlayStation Home was also expected to be the Sony PS3′s answer to the Xbox 360′s Xbox Live service.
