Hollywood (dbTechno) – This week is the launch week of the most highly-anticipated video game of all time, Grand Theft Auto IV. GTA IV is launching on the Xbox 360 and PS3, and is expected to break all kinds of sales records, hinting that it could cause the opening of Iron Man and the box office to take quite a hit.
GTA IV is expected to pull in around $400 million in revenue in its first week alone, as gamers all around the world run to retail stores to pick up a copy.
It is believed that with all of these gamers spending money on GTA IV as their form of entertainment for the week, the hyped up Iron Man may be ready to take a hit at the box office, along with other films.
The box office has been doing fairly well in 2008, with many big movies still yet to be released such as the new Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Batman, and others.
The expected big numbers from the box office this weekend now may not happen at all. It is expected that the majority of these gamers may just skip out on the big film Iron Man since they have already spent $60 to pick up Grand Theft Auto IV.
We will have to see how things go, but either way it is clear that Rockstar and parent company Take-Two are cleaning up in terms of revenue this week.
I still don’t understand why people keep saying this.
I think that people who ever had plans of seeing ‘Iron Man’ will see it, regardless of wether they’re a ‘GTA’ fan or not, or even a gamer.
