Blu-ray Review

Released: October 28, 2008

Zombie Strippers is one of the most unique releases that arrived in our office in quite some time.  I have to be honest, at first glance when I looked at the case I did not think this was the type of movie we actually reviewed on our site.  With that said though, Zombie Strippers has hit the Blu-ray format courtesy of Sony Pictures, and it actually isn’t half-bad.

Zombie Strippers revolves around an accident that takes place within a government agency.  The film has a bit of politics in it at the start, but nothing over the top do not worry.

The key behind the movie is that a lab breach causes an underground strip club to be hit, causing the strippers to turn into zombies.

The first to be to have their throat hit with a bite is Kat (Jenna Jameson), the star of the strip club The Rhino.

Kat continues to get more and more popular to the point where they want the rest of the strippers to become zombies, so she bites then in the neck too.

Needless to say, once this happens the zombies eventually end up causing all types of havoc, killing and such at will.

The movie is very stupid, I have to completely honest.  It probably sounds stupid just reading the review.  What the movie is also though is actually quite fun, as it is a mix of comedy and horror in a way that makes it very laughable.

Also, of course with the name Zombie Strippers, it is safe to say that there is plenty of nudity in here as well.

The video quality for Zombie Strippers is about as good as you can possibly get to be quite honest considering the film.  The use of colors and overall clarity are very impressive, as the image looks very sharp throughout.  Some of the negatives seen include some inconsistent black levels, as well as a bit of noise in spots.

The audio is features in a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track and is very underwhelming to say the least.

The audio resides on the front channels, and does not make much use of the rears to create any type of added immersive experience.  The sound design though does remain quite aggressive, with good use of the subwoofer.

In regards to the extras, there is some nice stuff here added in, which I actually found pretty surprising.

Things start out with audio commentary from Jenna Jameson, Robert Englund, and Joey Medina.  This is a very laid-back audio commentary which is a lot of fun to listen to to be quite honest.

Next up is a pop-up trivia feature known as “Titillation and Sass.”  This runs throughout the movie and basically shows all different types of political things which pop up during the film, among other things.  Plenty of other information is given about the cast and such.

A set of deleted scenes is also included in “Gory Scenes Not Shown In Theaters,” which are pretty decent but nothing over the top.

Two short featurettes include “The Champagne Room: Behind the Scenes of Zombie Strippers” as well as “The Dressing Room: How to Glam a Zombie.”

These short featurettes show how the movie was started from production onward, as well as an overview of how the make-up effects were done.

A BD-Live extra is added in as well as you can go online for more extras if you have a Blu-ray player hooked up online.

Zombie Strippers is a ridiculous movie that is actually a lot of fun to watch, worth a rental.

Film: 6.0
I was expecting a lot worse I have to be honest, a fun film overall, just very dumb.

Video: 8.0 There are a few spots where black levels are not so great, some noise as well.

Audio: 7.8 A decent audio mix, very aggressive but too front-heavy.

Replay Value: 8.0 Overall a nice set of extras.

Final Score: 7.0
