Paramount Home Entertainment is digging up some 80s hits with a new set of I Love The 80s releases.  Flash Dance has made the cut to get the special treatment with this release.

Flash Dance starred Jennifer Beals and released back in the year 1983 to a great deal of praise as it definitely made its mark on our culture in the 1980s.

The film revolved around Alex Owens (Beals), an 18-year old woman who is determined to succeed.  She wants to try and study at the Pittsburgh Conservatory of Dance, and is working day and night to try and get herself there.

She does this not only by working during the day as a welder, but working at night as an exotic dancer.

Needless to say, the twists and turns in this one help her learn a lot about herself, life, and love.

The film, which will give you goose bumps all over again when you see it for the first time in a long time, is still a great flick.

A bonus musical CD is thrown in as unfortunately the only extra.

Flash Dance was and still is a great mix of dance, drama, and raw entertainment value.  The only thing lacking in this release are some extras.

Film: 8.4

Video: 7.5

Audio: 8.0

Extras: 1.0

Final Score: 7.2
