Paramount Home Entertainment is digging up some 80s hits with a new set of I Love The 80s releases.  Top Secret, a film starring Val Kilmer and Lucy Gutteridge, has received the special treatment.

Top Secret was released back in 1984 and is hitting the DVD format yet again.

Top Secret introduces us to Val Kilmer as he plays the role of a rock star named Nick Rivers, who needless to say is seen as a legend by many.

All is not well though for the rock star, as he ends up in the middle of a murder, as well as a great deal of chaos with the East German High Command in Germany.

He ends up working with the beautiful Hillary Flammond (Lucy Gutteridge) to try and stop a super weapon, the Polaris Mine, and save the day.

This film is definitely not perfect, but it is still a lot of fun and a comedy that you will enjoy.

In terms of the extras on this release, you are presented with a set of alternate scenes, as well as the original trailer and storyboards.

The extras are rounded out with commentary by directors Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, Jerry Zucker, as well as Jon Davison, Hunt Lowry, and Fred Rubin.

A bonus musical CD is thrown in as well just as it is with the other I Love The 80s releases.

Top Secret has always been seen as an entertaining movie and that stands true here.  If you have not yet picked this up on DVD, now is the time.

Film: 8.0  A great comedy, plenty of laughs.

Video: 7.5  The film looks just fine.

Audio: 7.5  The audio is front-heavy, but is presented well.

Extras: 7.0  A decent set of extras overall.

Final Score: 7.5
