Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has gone ahead and put out High School Musical Remix to launch day and date with the release of High School Musical 3 on Blu-ray.  Is this one worth picking up along with the new movie?

High School Musical Remix marks the release of the original movie that started it all on Blu-ray.

The story for the original High School Musical is fairly simple to be quite honest, and focuses on the students of East High with Troy (Zac Efron), Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens), and others leading the way.

Once you go back to watch this original film, you will quickly understand why the franchise has spawned two sequels and has been wildly popular all around the world.

The songs are extremely catchy, the production is smooth, and everything about it just screams out fun and entertainment.

The video transfer for this release is extremely colorful and is presented in 1.78:1 aspect  ratio.  The way in which the presentation is done is a huge step up from what we saw on TV, as the film looks better than ever in high-def.

The same can be said about the audio as it is presented in 5.1 Uncompressed and does a great job of really setting a nice atmosphere to put you in the film with all of the music, dancing, etc.

Disney has gone ahead with some extras as well, such as a sing-along with the movie feature, some lessons to teach you dance moves, as well as a set of music videos.

There is also a feature on the Hollywood premiere, and a making-of track for fans to check out.

High School Musical Remix is well-worth picking up on Blu-ray as it is a great way to go back and watch the original in full high-def.  The nice extras added in make this one worth checking out!

Film: 9.0 There is nothing like the original, this one started it all!

Video: 9.2 The film looks brilliant on Blu-ray.

Audio: 9.5 The songs are crystal clear.

Extras: 8.7 These extras are nothing groundbreaking, but will please fans.

Final Score: 9.0
