Washington (dbTechno) – Facebook has announced that they are going to let external developers gain access to what is known as an “activity stream,” which may end up turning Facebook more into a Twitter experience.
The idea here is to allow external developers to have access to what Facebook members show on their profiles in regards to status updates and such.
Developers will now have access to the Facebook Open Stream API.
With this, the belief is that developers are going to create new client applications for new devices outside of Facebook.
This could lead to Facebook users being able to update their information and such from different things, including different Web sites, mobile phones, etc.
The only worry appears to be just how much information will be sent out through this stream.
This appears to be the next phase of growth as Facebook continues to grow.
