WWE Royal Rumble 2009
DVD Review
WWE Home Video
The Royal Rumble is always up there as one of my favorite events of the year on the wrestling calendar, second only to the grand-daddy of them all, Wrestlemania.
WWE’s Royal Rumble 2009 event was no different this year, as there was a great deal of entertainment in the entire PPV, including the big final match.
Beyond the Royal Rumble match itself, there was a very strong undercard here that featured a lot of fantastic wrestling.
Leading the way were the two big title matches, the first between John Cena and JBL, with the second between Jeff Hardy and Edge.
The Jeff Hardy, Edge match was one of my favorites of the night as these two quick performers put on some great spots for the crowd.
The card was rounded out with an ECW title match between Jack Swagger and Matt Hardy, as well as a Women’s Championship match between Beth Phoenix and Melina.
The Royal Rumble match itself was your usual entertaining hour, and was a blast to watch this year as it always is, plenty of great spots and big moments.
Special features on the DVD release include an interview by Todd Grisham, as well as a feature on Randy Orton from Monday Night Raw.
WWE Royal Rumble 2009 is well-worth picking up on DVD was these events are always great to have and to look back on, especially when you think about how this really kicks off the road to Wrestlemania.
