Powder Blue
Blu-ray Review
Image Entertainment
Release: May 26, 2009
Powder Blue from Image Entertainment has hit the Blu-ray format starring a strong cast headlined by Jessica Biel, Ray Liotta, Eddie Redmayne, and Forest Whitaker.
Powder Blue is a very awkward movie to be quite honest, as it tries to show these four characters who are having a hard time finding their way in life, and finding reason to live.
The whole story here takes the lives of these characters and really displays the anguish that they are going through. The major issue though is that they have a hard time making a connection with each other, and the audience.
Everything involved with all of their anguish just came across as unoriginal and flat, leaving myself and the person I watched this with rather bored, not worth your time.
Extras included in this release are pretty sub-par, starting out with Shooting Blue: The Making of Powder Blue which runs for around 17-minutes and focuses on the cast, and the making of the movie.
From here, we are presented with a strong audio commentary, the highlight of the extras for sure. Commentary is done by director Timothy Linh Bui and producer Tracee Stanley.
A photo gallery and a trailer are also included in the release of Powder Blue on Blu-ray.
Powder Blue fails to really identify itself with the audience, and stand on its own two feet with its characters, and its story in general. Everything here feels unoriginal and lacks depth, leaving you bored and disconnected.
Film: 5.0 Blah, movie fails to make any connection with the audience.
Video: 8.5 Video transfer appears strong, very gritty and in-your-face.
Audio: 8.5 Audio gets the job done, very clear throughout.
Extras: 6.0 Extras are minimal, the commentary is worth a listen though.
Final Score: 6.0
