iHome iP88
Hardware Review
Manufacturer: iHome
iHome is back at it again with the release of their latest clock radio for iPod owners, only this time it is not for just one iPod, it is for two.
It is very common now for there to be more than one iPod in a household. Or when you go to a party, there is more than one person who has an iPod that they want played, well this may be the answer to all of your problems.
The iHome iP88 features a dual-dock meaning that you can dock two iPhones, or two regular iPods at once, allowing both to charge simultaneously.
There are separate buttons for each dock, one on the left and one on the right meaning that you can jump from one to the other very easily.
The overall design of the iP88 is something that I actually like a great deal. It has a very dark appeal to it that will make it fit in just about any room nicely. It has a very modern and contemporary feel and appearance to it with his big and bright LCD display, as well as its speakers which encompass the entire front of the unit.
From there, you get all of the standard access buttons right on the top to easily switch from AM/FM radio, to the two docks, change times, alarms, etc.
The device does a whole lot more than just being a regular old clock radio thoughk, it does much more.
It has some very cool features such as the iPhone time sync, allowing the clock radio to sync up with your iPhone time automatically onc eit is docked.
On top of that, there is also a switch to easily make the change for Daylight Savings Time.
The gradual wake and gradual sleep is another strong feature so that the volume fades in and out whether you want to go away or go to sleep, that way you don’t wake up to extremely loud music.
My personal favorite touch is the fact that it comes with a very cool remote control. This is a very handy remote that willc ertainly be used when you want to change a tune from across the room, or shut it off without having to hit the sleep button.
In terms of performance, to put it simply, this thing absolutely rocks with its speakers that pump out great bass, #d sound, etc.
This is a very well-built clock radio that is not going to disappoint in any regard, whether you want it for use as a simple clock radio, or even to be in the center of your living room to set a social atmosphere with some pumping music.
The iHome iP88 is a fantastic choice if you live in a household where there is more than one iPod floating around. The sound quality is superb, the build is top-notch, and it is priced right at around $150, definitely worth every penny!
Final Score: 9.2
