We Cheer 2
Wii Review
Namco Bandai Games
Released: November 2009
The Nintendo Wii has been home to some unique games, and We Cheer 2 showcases exactly what I mean by saying that.
I will not lie, if I did not work for this great site, and did not have this great job of being able to review video games, there is no way I would have ever touched We Cheer 2. Since I do have this fantastic job though, I got to try out this interesting and surprisingly entertaining game for the Nintendo Wii.
We Cheer 2 is all about cheerleading, and is clearly aimed at the young girls out there who aspire to being cheerleaders, love the movie Bring It On, and enjoy shaking pom poms like it is nobodys’ business.
Basically, the game allows you to use the Wiimotes as your pom poms, and this is a very intuitive and enjoyable experience.
If you have ever played a game such as Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, etc. you can kind of guess as to how the game plays out.
We Cheer 2 is pretty much a rhythm game, as you will have to make certain motions and movements with your Wii Remotes at the right time and at the right speed to pull off moves.
The better you do, the bigger combos you will start racking up, and the higher scores you will get.
The game features 30 different songs or routines for you to check out as you create your own cheerleading squad, and battle it out in all sorts of single-player and multi-player events, including cheer offs.
The songs included are a lot of fun and will appeal to the target audience of the young girls out there.
Some of the songs include Closer by NeYo, Whoa by Paramore, Pump It by the Black Eyed Peas, and others.
The more you play, the more songs you will unlock, eventually unlocking the 30 or so songs included.
The contros here do work pretty well as the game is a lot of fun. Sure, there are times when the movements do not get picked up as accurately as they should, but this is far and few between.
As stated there are a few different game modes, but the main one of the Cheer Squad. Here is where you will basically take your squad through a story where you hae to complete missions and eventually try to take home the crown as the top squad.
On top of that, there are plenty of other fun modes such as Championships, Workout, and Training. All of this is tracked to your unique profile in the game as you can continue to unlock new things and rewards beyond just new songs, including outfits, stages, and more.
We Cheer 2 is far from a perfect game, as the graphics are sub-par with lacking detail, character models, etc. The controls, as stated above, are also not perfect.
Overall though, the thing to take out of this is that it has enough to it with the number of songs, game modes, and playability to be worth a purchase for its target audience. The young female Wii owners out there will certainly enjoy We Cheer 2 this holiday season.
Graphics: 6.0 Nothing impressive.
Audio: 7.5 The tracklist is perfect for its target audience.
Gameplay: 7.2 Not perfect, but certainly enjoyable.
Replay Value: 7.6 Single and multi-player modes are fun.
Final Score: 7.4
