Nintendo DS Review
Namco Bandai Games
Released: November 2009

Nintendo DS owners have received a brand new Dragon Ball release in Dragon Ball Z Attack of the Saiyans. The game is not your typical fighting game from the franchise, but is instead a role-playing game, and a fairly entertaining one at that.

Those who are familiar to the Dragon Ball franchise will know what is going on in regards to the story, as it follows the Saiyan story arc from the long-running anime saga.

The game is broken up into chapters, taking around 15 to 20 hours to play through in total. The RPG is a mixture of fast-paced battles, dungeons, etc.

The battle system in place with this one is the most enjoyable aspect of the game. The attacks are fast-paced and are very impressive. You can do anything from basic attacks up through more advanced attacks.

The system in place is one which will appeal to both novice and experienced gamers, and is truly the highlight of the whole experience.

The game falls off though after you get past the battle system. This is due to the extremely lacking dungeons in place, and the excessive grinding that the game requires you to go through in order to progress.

The way the whole game moves forward is very average, with things being a bit too simplistic for my liking.

The whole difficulty is pretty low, with none of the boss battles even being anything that will challenge anyone who has played through an RPG before.

The presentation value is strong with good colorful graphics, nice details in regards to the character models and environments, etc.

Dragon Ball Z Attack of the Saiyans is an average RPG but will be enjoyable for novice gamers out there who are fans of the anime franchise. Good enough to play through for sure on the DS,

Graphics: 8.4 Good colorful visuals.

Audio: 8.0 The audio gets the job done, true to the franchise.

Gameplay: 7.0 The battle system is strong, but the rest falls off.

Replay Value: 7.4 Once you play through it onc eyou really won’t have a need to go back.

Final Score: 7.9
