American Idol contestant Elliott Yamin Survives Massive Earthquake

Former American Idol contestant Elliott Yamin is lucky to be alive after a massive earthquake rocked the country of Chile.

The season five contestant had just finished performing at a concert when the massive 8.8 scale earthquake struck.

The quake was centered near Concepion, Chile’s second largest city, approximately 200 miles from the capital of Santiago.

He quickly took to Twitter to let his loved ones know that he was alive, and to share how devistating the massive quake actually was.

“Huge earthquake just now in Chile!!..I swear this was the end of my life!” he tweeted. “F*ck!!!!..I just escaped with my life.”

“Complete and utter choas on the streets…no power…my heart is beatin outta my chest!….tsunami warnin…I am only a mile inland,” Yamin wrote.

So far an estimated 120 people have died, and hundreds of buildings have been flattened by the massive quake.

President-elect Sebastian Pinera declared a national state of catastrophe, and states that the extent of the damage will be far greater than what is currently known.
