iHome has done a fantastic job as of late in terms of their ability to create great devices to house your iPod Touch or iPhone, but the company has completely outdone themselves with the iHome iA5.

Simply put, the iHome iA5 is the best device I have seen to date as it is not only a fantastic alarm clock, but also doubles as a great little speaker set-up.

The iHome iA5 App Enhanced Alarm Clock is the first device to actually utilize an app developed by iHome and use it in conjunction with the hardware.

When you dock your iPhone or iPod Touch, you can turn on the iHome software that you download for free off of the App Store, and truly take advantage of this great device, the iHome+Sleep software was a fantastic idea.

The device communicates with the App Store application to allow you to set up and view your weather, interact with Facebook, Twitter, etc.

You can also set up alarm clocks, sleep timers, keep track of your sleep statistics, all with great ease.

It was a fantastic idea to combine an app with an alarm clock, needless to say iHome has hit a home run with this idea.

The hardware itself is also extremely solid as the whole device is very sleek. When you have an iPod Touch or iPhone plugged into it, the clock display goes away in favor of it showing up on the device.

When you remove the iPod Touch or iPhone, the clock on the hardware itself re-appears in a very sleek fashion.

The device is small enough to fit on any desk, but also packs quite a punch as the speakers are phenomenal.

It also has a great price point as well as it comes it at around $100, making it well worth the money to say the very least.

You really can’t go wrong here as the iA5 from iHome is very simple with very few buttons on the unit itself.

It relies on the app a great deal, and does so effectively as the buttons on the device itself are those such as the big ZZZ button to snooze, as well as the big power button.

Setting an alarm is easy as anything thanks to the app, as is setting sleep timers for music, setting who you want to wak up to, etc.

Once you try out the app-enhanced device, you won’t want to go back. This is my favorite alarm clock for the iPhone and iPod Touch to date, definitely recommended for any owner out there! The iHome iA5 should not be missed!
