Cynthia Nixon Backlash on Eve of Wedding to Longtime Girlfriend
Former “Sex and the City” star, Cynthia Nixon has been in the news quite a bit lately. Recently shaving her head for her stage role in “Wit,” Nixon has received more attention for some comments she made regarding her sexuality.
On the eve of her wedding to longtime girlfriend, Christine Marinoni, the actress has seen a backlash from the gay community for her comments made in an interview with The New York Times.
In the interview, Nixon, who has two children from a heterosexual relationship with Danny Mozes, describes her lesbian relationship with Marinoni as a choice she made.
She also says she rejects the bisexual label, or being pigeonholed at all for the person she chooses to love romantically.
Nixon has been treading on thin ice with activists for statements she has made in the past. She states that she understands that for some it is not a choice, but for her it was.
Gay rights activists who are concerned that the message will be conveyed that it is a conscious decision and not a genetic one.
