Former White Stripes front man Jack White has confirmed that he will be releasing his first solo album in April. The album, Blunderbuss, will be available through White’s own Third Man record label.
White, who is known for being unconventional, formed The White Stripes in 1997 with his former wife, drummer Meg White. The two continued to record together for nearly a decade after their divorce.
The White Stripes split last year, but White continues to perform and record with two other bands, The Dead Weather and The Ranconteurs.
White told Zane Lowe of the UK’s Radio 1 that Blunderbuss was an album that he “could not have released until now.” White also revealed that the making of the album came as an accident.
While recording for another project, one musician failed to show up. That is when, according to White, the recording of the LP began.
The first single from the album, Love Interrupted, has debuted on White’s personal website. Blunderbuss is scheduled to drop on April 24th.
